Danbury is a city located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States roughly 39 miles northwest of New York City. Danbury was founded in 1685 by 8 families. It was named in 1687, incorporated in 1702, and chartered as a city in 1889. Now in 2018, the population has increased to almost 85, 000 people. Danbury is also nicknamed Hat City because between the 1800's and early 1900's it was the center of the American hat industry. Today the city of Danbury is home to many types of businesses, restaurants and schools.
